As a little girl, I was always writing and reporting. Of course my first stories were mere scribbles on my Hello Kitty notepad with a red crayon, but it was the beginning of a lifelong passion to be a writer. Once I actually learned how to read and write I would pour over my English homework as if it were a fun game. I have always enjoyed reading, but adolescence began a near obsession with reading magazines. By the time I was in eighth grade I had decided I would grow up to be a magazine journalist. Teenage angst brought on my creative dabbling in poetry and short stories. I attended Centennial high school in Champaign, IL where I was an editor for the school's literary magazine called the First Circle.
After the oppression of high school I attended Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. I graduated with a degree in magazine journalism in 2003. After graduation, I followed my now husband across the country on a few moves following his more lucrative career as a roboticist. His career moved us to Atlanta, Georgia in 2005, where we live happily in a townhouse in Buckhead. Due to the constant uprooting my career has been slow to grow. (If you are really interested in what I was up to, see my resume). Last summer while my husband had an internship that temporarily moved us to Redmond, Washington; I started writing my first novel. It is going slowly, but I feel that something will come of it.
As well as writing I have been working as a make-up artist for the past year. I have traveled extensively throughout the USA, mostly on road trips. My international travel includes Germany, Austria, Hungary, Canada, and Mexico. I have upcoming trips to Italy and Belize. I have a long list of hobbies, which include: knitting, scrapbooking, reading, hiking, throwing parties, home improvement projects, traveling, cooking, and assorted crafts.
As a starting out freelancer, I have mostly covered mental illness for a non-profit's newsletter. I am dedicated to the written word, precise in storytelling, and without delay on deadline. An abbreviated list of topics I am comfortable covering include health, mental health, beauty, travel, real estate, home improvement, and "youthful endeavors."
